One set rotates around a chainwheel while the other rotates around an inner ring or cam. A centrifugal clutch is used to increase the speed of the inner ring or cam and decrease the speed of the chain.
A radial-pistoned chainsaw engine has a different design than a rotary chain saw. Rather than spin around a bolt or cam, the inner ring or cam rotates around an inner sprocket. This chain system has more chain teeth and the teeth are closer together than they are on a chain saw. The chain is also heavier and the chain teeth spin faster than those on a chain saw. These chainsaws often have a separate motor for the chainwheel and generator to work in tandem.
