Chainsaw Replacement Parts

A chainsaw, sometimes called a slip-driver, is a hand-held gas-, electricity-, or lithium-powered cutting tool that cuts using a series of cutting teeth connected to a revolving chain driven on a guiding bar. It is most often used in jobs like tree felling, trimming, felling fireplaces in wildfire suppression, and harvesting firewood from large trees that are in season. Chainsaws are also used for other cutting jobs in wood processing plants. The chainsaw differs from other power tools in that it can be adjusted to cut at different angles, so that one edge of the blade can cut at an angle that is not the same with all of the teeth on the opposite side. For example, a left-hand cutting angle on a chainsaw would be different than a right-hand angle.

Most chainsaw chainsaws have a flywheel and an electric chainwheel. The chainsaw uses a two-stage motor, which consists of a chain wheel and drive shaft. The drive shaft spins around a gear in a chainsaw sprocket that is linked to the chainwheel by a pinion or screw assembly. This chainwheel is usually located near the engine. There are many types of chainsaw engines, including vertical-pistoned, rotary-pistoned, radial-pistoned, and centrifugal clutch systems bestofchinsaw.

A vertical-pistoned chainsaw has a chainwheel and drive shaft that rotates horizontally. The chainwheel is fixed to the arbor and is rotated vertically. This type of chainsaw engine uses a pinion or screw assembly to guide the chain as it spins around the drive shaft. Because of the way the vertical-pistoned chainsaw engine functions, there is a certain amount of chain wear and tear that must occur. Many chainsaw users prefer to replace their engines rather than replace the chainsaw itself.

A rotary-pistoned chainsaw engine works in much the same manner as the vertical-pistoned engine, but the rotational motion is applied through a screwing or changing assembly instead of a pinion or screw. When you look at a rotary chain saw, you will see that there are two sets of drive or chain wheels on either side of the blade. One set rotates around a chainwheel while the other rotates around an inner ring or cam. A centrifugal clutch is used to increase the speed of the inner ring or cam and decrease the speed of the chain.

A radial-pistoned chainsaw engine has a different design than a rotary chain saw. Rather than spin around a bolt or cam, the inner ring or cam rotates around an inner sprocket. This chain system has more chain teeth and the teeth are closer together than they are on a chain saw. The chain is also heavier and the chain teeth spin faster than those on a chain saw. These chainsaws often have a separate motor for the chainwheel and generator to work in tandem.

Because there are numerous makes and models of chainsaws on the market today, it may be difficult to discern which parts may be needed for your chainsaw. Your local hardware store or lumberyard should be able to provide you with the appropriate parts. If you are unsure of the make or model of your chainsaw, you may want to purchase a chainsaw manual so that you can identify the necessary parts. Even if you cannot purchase the parts yourself, many chainsaw retailers offer to repair the chainsaw for a small fee.
